At CCIND, we are proud to offer our patients both cosmetic veneers and thin veneers. Depending on each patient’s individual case, our highly trained dentist will decide which type will be the best fit. Veneers are ultra-thin porcelain slips that fit perfectly over the existing teeth to instantly create a perfect, white smile.
Veneers can be used to solve issues such as:
- Large gaps between the teeth
- Worn down teeth
- Chipped teeth
- Misaligned teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Stained teeth
- Uneven gums and teeth
- Bridges and crowns with an unnatural appearance
The Cosmetic Veneer Process:
The placement of cosmetic veneers usually takes two appointments. First, the dentist will examine your teeth and possibly take x-rays and impressions. After the dentist understands your particular case and concerns, the dentist and the patient together will decide the desired result. Then, the area will be numbed with a local anesthetic and the teeth will be prepared for the veneers. The same thickness of enamel on the teeth corresponding to the thickness of the veneers will be removed. Finally, the dentist will take impressions or a mold of your teeth, which will be sent to a dental laboratory that will make your highly-accurate, custom-made veneers. The impressions will also be used to make temporary veneers until the next appointment.
During the second appointment, the dentist will clean, polish, and etch your teeth to prepare for the placement of the veneers. Etching is basically roughening the tooth to allow the veneers to bond more strongly. Finally, the dentist will examine and carefully cement the permanent veneers on your teeth to ensure proper fit and color. After only two appointments, you will walk out of the office confidently with a new, perfect smile.
What are Thin Veneers?
As the name suggests, thin veneers differ from cosmetic veneers in that they are thinner. Thin veneers are as thin as a contact lens. In addition, the teeth do not have to be shaved down prior to placement of thin veneers. Therefore, they do not involve any drilling or injections. It is a non-surgical, painless treatment and can be done in only two appointments to improve the color, shape, size, or length of your teeth. Moreover, thin veneers are completely reversible. They can be removed at any time to expose the intact underlying teeth.
Even though Thin Veneers are thinner than cosmetic veneers, they are not more likely to break or chip because they are made from exceptionally strong Cerinate®porcelain.Cerinate®porcelain can also be color-modified and balanced to achieve the desired level of opaqueness and translucency.
