TMJ Expert Dr. Sid Solomon DDS

Full mouth, or complete, dental implants refer to implant-supported full bridges or full dentures, and they are used primarily in patients who are missing most or all of their teeth as a result of tooth decay, damage or disease. They look and function just like natural teeth and can last a lifetime. Unlike conventional dentures which can be uncomfortable and may cause tooth roots to deteriorate, implant-supported full bridges and dentures provide enhanced comfort and replace some tooth roots, helping to promote better overall dental health and function. They also do not come with the same dietary restrictions associated with conventional dentures.

he lasting strength and natural appearance of implant-supported full bridges or dentures also provide patients with greater confidence knowing they have a reliable, permanent and beautiful smile.

The Placement Process

Placing full mouth dental implants requires the following steps:

  1. The implants, which are small titanium posts, are placed into the jaw by way of your existing tooth root. Over a course of two to six months, the implants and jawbone bond together through a process known as osseointegration. This bond forms a strong anchor for the artificial teeth, helping to promote the lifelong success of your implants. While your implants bond to the bone, a temporary implant or tooth replacement may cover the implant sites.
  2. If needed, healing caps and connections are added. This allows multiple crowns to be attached to the implants. This step further establishes a strong foundation for the new teeth.
  3. A custom dental restoration is customized to match your bite and natural smile and is affixed directly onto your dental implants.
  4. When finished, the bridges or dentures are attached to abutments (small metal posts) or other devices which connect your bridge or denture to your implants. The implants require some time to adjust to, but once they do, you will notice a tremendous difference in how you chew, speak, and feel about your smile.

If you are missing most or all of your teeth, full mouth dental implants might be the ideal, permanent solution you’ve been searching for to achieve a beautiful and healthy smile. The costs are incredibly high, even with insurance. I would not go back and not refer anyone. I am going to try to be placed with a different primary care dentist.

He is very patient and kind when dealing with TMD. I also like his techniques he uses to get to the root of the issue and not just patch it up like many dentists I have dealt with before.
