TMJ Expert Dr. Sid Solomon DDS

Full mouth reconstruction, also called full mouth restoration, is a method by which missing or damaged teeth are fully restored in health and appearance. This process involves the restoration of teeth in both the upper and lower jaws and takes place over the course of several visits. A customized treatment plan is tailored to meet the distinct needs of each patient, and several different types of procedures, including porcelain veneers, full-coverage crowns, inlays or onlays, implants or bridges, may be used.

Full mouth reconstruction is used to treat problems such as:

  • Multiple missing teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Severely damaged teeth from wear, grinding, or erosion
  • Malocclusion (misalignment of bite)

Who qualifies for full mouth reconstruction?

In order to qualify for full mouth reconstruction, a patient’s oral health must meet certain requirements including:

  • Condition of Teeth – The condition of teeth and the problems associated with them determine which materials and methods are most likely to result in successful treatment. Common dental problems include cavities, decay, tooth wear, misshapen teeth, and root canal problems. If these problems are evident, the teeth must first be removed or restored to their optimal health before reconstruction can begin.
  • Temporomandibular joints, bite, and jaw problems – If you suffer from problems associated with the temporomandibular joint (which may result in pain in the jaw, commonly called TMJ), you may be grinding teeth or have a misaligned bite. If your bite or jaw is not in good health for full mouth reconstruction, correction of the issue may precede full mouth reconstruction treatment.
  • Healthy gum tissues: Scaling and root planing may be used to treat infection of the gums (called periodontal disease). Gum health is essential for successful treatment. Without a solid foundation, further oral health problems may persist.

Even if you don’t meet the criteria above, we can develop a treatment plan to resolve these preliminary issues before beginning reconstruction.

During your treatment, we consider the shape, size, color, and alignment of your natural teeth in order to create as natural-looking a solution as possible. We want your smile to be both healthy and confident, so we take every step to ensure your satisfaction.

Your treatment plan and the exact methods used for your reconstruction depends on your unique needs and goals. We will discuss all options and costs with you during your visit to our office in order to find the best solution for you. Contact us today to schedule an initial consultation to get started!

The costs are incredibly high, even with insurance. I would not go back and not refer anyone. I am going to try to be placed with a different primary care dentist.

He is very patient and kind when dealing with TMD. I also like his techniques he uses to get to the root of the issue and not just patch it up like many dentists I have dealt with before.
